Alchemy is the science of transformation — turning common herbs into life-saving elixirs, mundane minerals into volatile explosives, and forgotten fungi into poisons that can fell a giant. Every alchemist in Velmora maintains a personal collection of recipes, discovered through experimentation, purchased from reclusive masters, or recovered from ancient texts buried in ruins. The quality of the final product depends on the alchemist's skill, the purity of the ingredients, and the precision of the process. A novice might brew a healing draught that barely dulls the pain; a grandmaster produces an elixir that can bring a warrior back from the edge of death in seconds. Ingredients are gathered from across Velmora's diverse biomes — rare mushrooms from the Mangrove Swamps, volcanic salts from the mountains, luminescent moss from deep caverns. Some of the most powerful concoctions require components that can only be harvested under specific conditions: a moonlit night, a thunderstorm, or the brief window when a rare flower blooms in the Emerald Heart Jungle.
