Where magery channels the raw Arcane Weave, runic magic is the art of shaping it through ancient symbols of power. Runes are the building blocks of spellcraft in Velmora — discrete glyphs that can be combined, layered, and sequenced to create spells no grimoire has ever recorded. A single rune might produce a spark; combine three and you summon a firestorm. The possibilities are vast, but so are the costs. More powerful rune combinations demand rarer reagents, and a miscombined sequence can backfire catastrophically. Runes themselves are found throughout the world — etched into forgotten ruins, dropped by slain creatures, or traded by wandering scholars. Some runes govern the visual manifestation of a spell, allowing a caster to select animation effects from a library of collected animation runes. Others alter fundamental properties: range, duration, elemental affinity, area of effect. The true art lies not in collecting runes but in understanding how they interact, discovering synergies that turn a simple cantrip into something extraordinary.
